Experience Clearer Vision

after Flapless LASIK

For patients with nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, LASIK offers a way to achieve clear vision without the hassles of contacts or glasses. However, traditional LASIK is not available to all patients for a variety of reasons. Flapless LASIK offers a safe, effective, and minimally invasive alternative to traditional LASIK.

At The M Lasik Center in Dallas, TX, Dr. Michael Mazaheri has pioneered a new form of post surgery regimen to evolve the next generation of laser eye surgery in the PRK form. Dr. M has received multiple patents over the years and has filed more patents to make his dream of increasing the safety of laser eye surgery a reality for other centers.

Dr Mazaheri wants the patients to know this is simply the dream version of PRK that was approved by FDA, he only has refined it over his career so that he can offer it to all his patients that get the procedure.

Combining the techniques of PRK surgery and years of refinement, Dr. Mazaheri has created what he calls a no-cut form of LASIK. After decades of fine-tuning his skills, Dr. Mazaheri named his new procedure flapless LASIK in 2008. This treatment eliminates many of the complications associated with traditional LASIK and allows a larger variety of patients to experience the benefits of clear vision without corrective lenses.

Who Qualifies

for Flapless LASIK?

LASIK can provide clearer vision to a variety of patients with nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. Candidates for LASIK include individuals who:

  • Have had a stable prescription for a year or longer
  • Are 18 years old or older
  • Have blurry vision due to a refractive error
  • Are in good overall health
  • Have healthy eyes
  • Are free from eye injuries or diseases

Traditional LASIK is not recommend for patients with thin corneas or dry eyes. The creation of the flap can cause complications for individuals with these conditions. Since Dr. Mazaheri’s flapless LASIK procedure does not require a flap, many patients who are not candidates for traditional LASIK still qualify for his procedure.

After a quick procedure from Dr. Mazaheri, many patients experience a dramatic improvement on their overall quality of life.

In addition to those with dry eyes and thin corneas, individuals in active careers who were historically unable to receive LASIK, such as Navy seals, military staff, and pilots, can achieve clearer vision with Dr. Mazaheri’s technique. The best way to find out if you qualify for flapless LASIK is to schedule a consultation at our office. Dr. Mazaheri can assess the condition of your eyes and determine if flapless LASIK is right for you.

What to Expect

during the Procedure

3-D illustration of eye undergoing LASIKFlapless, or no-cut, LASIK is a safe and relatively simple procedure. Before beginning, we will use our advanced Wavefront™ technology to create a map of your eyes. Then Dr. Mazaheri will numb your eyes and use a small brush-like tool to remove the outermost layer of cells from your eyes. This is the initial step of surface ablation and allows Dr. Mazaheri to access the stroma, the area under the cornea, without a flap or cut. This approach is being done by many other lasik surgeons as well and the base format is call PRK. Many surgeons, especially cornea specialist will tell you that avoiding a cut in your eyes is the safest approach when possible.

In the next step, Dr. Mazaheri will use an Visx eye tracker laser to reshape the cornea of your eye. Then, he will place a pair of bandage contact lenses for you to wear as your eyes heal. Typically, the contacts stay in place for just 4 to 5 days.

What really differentiates his practice is that after wards each patient will get a customized plan to make the results as perfect as possible. Over the years he has noticed how the modified regimen improve the base line for his patients. Other experienced eye surgeons have brought their family at his center, because they appreciate 2 decades of experience and strive for perfection.

The Benefits

of No-Cut LASIK

Flapless LASIK offers many advantages over the traditional technique, including:

  • No flap-related complications
  • More predictable outcomes
  • Improved quality of vision
  • Reduced chance of dry eye

In addition, correcting your eyes can reduce or completely eliminate your dependency on glasses and contacts, removing the daily hassles of corrective lenses. After a quick procedure from Dr. Mazaheri, many patients experience a dramatic improvement on their overall quality of life.

Dr. Mazaheri did such an outstanding laser surgery on my eyes that I referred four other members of my family. We are all extremely happy with our results.
